The Dachstein peaks.

The “Hohe Dachstein” stands in the early morning sun at a hight of 3.004 metres. This mountain, exuding an almost primeval energy, dominates the whole area. For the local people it has never been easy to live here due to the particular combination of land-scape and climate. Perhaps that is exactly the reason why so many of them have created their own special histories. One of these is the Steiner family, who in 1888 founded a Loden mill at the base of Dachstein.
